Privacy Policy

BTGuard exists for one reason: your privacy. Netcrawled LLC (operating BTGuard) built this service for people who take their privacy seriously, and this policy is written the same way — plainly, completely, and without legal fog. It explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and — just as importantly — what we never collect at all.

Our promises

  • We never sell, trade, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Ever.
  • We do not monitor, record, or store your browsing history, the websites you visit, or the content of your traffic.
  • We collect the absolute minimum needed to run your account — and nothing else.
  • We use no advertising networks, no third-party analytics, and no tracking pixels in our apps, extensions, or service.
  • Everything we do store is protected by encryption and strict access controls.

What we collect

To operate your account, we keep only:

  • Account details — your username, email address, and a cryptographically hashed password (we never store your password in readable form).
  • Payment records — handled by our payment processors (e.g. credit card processors, PayPal, cryptocurrency processors). We keep records of payments (date, amount, payment status) for accounting; we never see or store full card numbers.
  • Support correspondence — emails you send us, so we can help you.

What we never collect

  • No logs of the websites you visit or the services you connect to.
  • No inspection, recording, or storage of your traffic content.
  • No DNS query logging.
  • No selling or profiling of usage patterns — we have nothing to profile.
  • No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in any BTGuard software.

How we use your information

Your information is used solely to: authenticate you to the service, deliver the VPN/proxy service you paid for, process your payments, respond to your support requests, and send you essential service emails (such as payment receipts or expiry warnings). That is the complete list. We will identify the purpose at or before the time of collection, and we will not repurpose your data without your consent unless required by law.

How we store and protect it

  • All connections to our website, API, and servers are encrypted with TLS.
  • Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes.
  • Access credentials for VPN/proxy sessions are stored hashed on our servers and are revocable at any time.
  • Personal information is protected by reasonable and current security safeguards against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
  • We retain personal information only as long as your account is active or as needed for legal and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted.

Browser extension — BTGuard Browser Protection

Our browser extension was designed with the same zero-knowledge mindset as the rest of BTGuard. Here is its complete data footprint:

  • Collected and stored on your device only: your BTGuard username, short-lived session tokens, a random per-install device identifier, and a revocable per-device proxy credential (stored encrypted in your browser's extension storage). Your account password is used once at sign-in, sent only to btguard.com over TLS, and is never stored by the extension.
  • Never collected: the extension does not read, collect, or transmit your browsing history, the pages you visit, page content, bookmarks, or keystrokes. It contains no analytics and no telemetry of any kind.
  • How it is used: this data exists solely to sign you in, apply your chosen proxy location to the browser, and keep your session refreshed. While connected, the extension also hardens your browser against WebRTC IP leaks — a protection working for you, not a data collection.
  • Optional bmail.pro inbox: if you use the built-in bmail.pro mail panel, message subjects, senders, and text are fetched directly from bmail.pro over TLS and displayed on screen only. The extension never stores your email content and never sends it anywhere other than bmail.pro itself. If you link your mailbox with a password, that password is sent once to bmail.pro and is not retained by the extension.
  • Sharing: the extension communicates exclusively with btguard.com (account and session), BTGuard gateway servers (connection authentication), and — only if you use the mail feature — bmail.pro. No other party receives any data, and nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.
  • Deletion: logging out revokes your device's proxy credential on our servers and wipes all extension data from your browser instantly.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information — to anyone, for any reason. The only parties that ever handle any of your data are the payment processors you choose to pay with (they see what is needed to process your payment, nothing more). We may disclose information only if compelled by a valid legal order in our jurisdiction — and because we do not log your activity, there is no browsing history, traffic data, or usage record in our possession to hand over.

Your rights and controls

  • You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • You can correct your account information at any time from your account page.
  • You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • You can pay with cryptocurrency for additional payment privacy.
  • Questions or requests: contact us through support — a human will answer.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page. We will never weaken these commitments quietly — the promises above are the foundation of BTGuard.
